![]() It can take 10-15mins to get through security. You don’t get paid til you get to your sort wing. You must Show up at least 10-15mins to your shift. What is a typical day like for you at the company? One bad apple with cause extra stress and more work for everyone. Hot/cold/loud… having a great crew within your team is essential. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? What is the most stressful part about working at the company?īeing told your job in on the line by having to meet loading goals no matter the working conditions (weather) or being short handed. And though I felt my managers had my back, being told daily we could get fired for not meeting goals…. As I mentioned I exceeded my goals daily and by 40%. I just wish the managers would give more positive feedback vs negative. There were parts of the job I hated and there were parts I loved. It’s hard/honest work and will get you into shape real quick. FedEx provides a great opportunity for those who need to acquire a job to fill I. I wish everyone on both sides were just honest about life. That being said I also know that there are employees who try to claim an injury to scam the system. If your injury doesn’t exceed $700 in bills your claim will automatically be denied by FedEx workman’s comp. If you get hurt and it’s “minor”, you are still exasperated to work and will be denied medical claims. ![]() Although they preach safety-safety-safety…. ![]() But this is the corporate/fortune 100 mentality. I know for a fact that the sort managers don’t like telling package handlers that will be fired. Personally I exceeded my goals but still heard the speech. Unfortunately, on a daily basis, employees are indirectly threatened to be fired if you can’t meet you sort goals. Provided you get along with your manager it’s manageable. Once you get to know everyone, it’s your fellow coworkers that actually make it fun. What is the best part of working at the company? If you enjoy doing physical activities and getting a work out, that part would also be enjoyable as well. The most enjoyable part about the job is all of the rewards, from the great pay to the benefits to the help with tuition. The hardest part of the job is getting used to the exertion. Most of the managers are good and will only give advice or criticism when it is deserved. Some members of management will fail to prioritize correctly and give faulty instructions to package handler s, then blame the package handler s. ![]() The trainers are all great, but management is hit and miss. A typical day at work looks like moving lots of boxes, either loading or unloading a trailer. If you have a car, live near your local hub, live near the FedEx shuttle's route, or have a bus that will take you there, it's a good position. My hub was located in an inconvenient place so I ended up leaving instead of continuing with the 3 hour commute. The job is okay if you can handle the pace and can lift the occasional heavy box. not to mention they get more hours than some, if you can't physically do the job, move on, overall I like the work, just wish the shifts, work hours were different, if you need extra money or a small part-time job, this is for you, don't expect to raise a family or get rich working these kind of hours and crazy shifts. I currently work here and consider myself a pretty good worker, been here 5 + years, its a good job if your single and young, in order to make any money you got to work multiple(3+) shifts, meaning not much time for family, never know how many hours you will get from week to week, sometimes 2 hour wait between shifts to work 2 hours, seems like its not worth it, they CATER to some because they can't do the job and get a doctors note putting them on a weight restriction, so they get jobs standing all day scanning or setting in smalls watching you bust your butt, I know people who has been there for 3 years+ and been on " light duty" ever since the first week, and 2 that are on lifetime light duty, ( believe it or not ).
